Huntley racing Roll Bar / Cage System

As is traditional with H.R. products, when it came time to equip our project cars with roll bars and cages we couldn't help but improve on existing designs. Safety is a prime concern of course but the side benefit of strengthening the chassis can't be overlooked. Typical roll bars mount a hoop to the floor area behind the front seats with one or more cross braces and two down braces attached to the rear fender wells. Two potential problems stem from the placement of the rear braces. The fender area is one thin layer of sheet metal with little structural strength and the bolts protrude into the inner fender very close to the vulnerable tire. On cars with very large wheel and tire combinations, risk of shredding a tire is > always a concern. In the case of a hard roll over, the question of strength of the wheel wells becomes a real concern. The H.R. roll bar is cold rolled steel or optional chromoly. The bar meets or exceeds all PCA, POC and SCCA regulations (always check the latest rules for your sanctioning body). The big advantage of our bar is the placement of the down bracing. We run our braces from directly over the driver and passenger head area to the upper rear seat firewall area for bolt ins and to the rear frame rails for weld ins. The placement of the down bracing requires removal or modification of the rear seats (save weight!) for the bolt in. This arrangement adds significant protection as well as chassis rigidity. The down bracing is located very close to the rear upper shock mounts adding strength to this weak area. The bar adds significantly to the cars ability to resist flexing under severe cornering loads. The bar has a diagonal brace as well as a horizontal brace which doubles as a harness bar and seat brace (we can provide a bracket to hard mount your seat back to the seat brace). We also offer full competition cages installed at our location in San Diego. Because of the fine fitting, intricate welding and special modifications necessary to install our cages they are not for mail-order. Our cages add door hoops which mount through the dash vents to ease ingress and egress from the car and have door bars and an overhead cross bar as well. We also fabricate multi bar 'Nascar' style door guards, semi-tube frame front and rear ends, and full tube frame chassis. Call for a quote!
